Sandberg is a world-renowned palaeontological location. The remains of more than 250 species of aquatic and terrestrial animals were found here dating back to the times when it was covered by the prehistoric Tethys Sea. The most significant findings include shark teeth, gastropods, sea urchins, pelecypods, seal bones and remains of Tertiary whale bones. In the Sandberg-Pajštún Geopark, you can find the Sea Cave and Slovinec Rock, Sandberg, Wait’s quarry, Devín Catle Hill, Freedom Cycling Bridge – the Quaternary geology of the Morava and Danube rivers, Marianka – slate mine drift in Marianské údolie, Pajštún Castle Rock, Borinka – Pod Zámčiskom and Borinka karst – Limbach spring.
