Until recently, Gajary was one of the most important extraction sites for oil and natural gas in Slovakia. Later, the reservoir was used for storing gas underground. However, the village is known as a place where many artefacts from the Bronze Age were discovered, which proves that the Amber Road led through here. Nowadays, you can visit the Baroque Church of the Lord’s Annunciation and several chapels. Along the cyclepaths, you will find some of the more than 20 fortifications from WWII. The Suchohrad village is known for its deposits of natural gas. However, nowadays it will charm you more with its beautiful nature, meadows, riparian, pine and black locust forests.
