Niederweiden Palace

Not far away from Schloss Hof is the Niederweiden Palace that was also owned by Eugene of Savoy and later Maria Theresa. Eugene of Savoy was an avid art lover, who had an extensive two part garden built next to the hunting château – agricultural, for growing fruit and vegetables, and a park. The Rococo garden was adorned with many statues, meandering paths and vast lawns. In comparison to the Schloss Hof gardens that obey the strict Baroque geometry, the Niederweiden gardens are known for its irregular shapes. The Niederweiden gardens contain the original ruins of the GrafenweidenCastle.
