Tips for trip

Devín Lake

Don’t try to look for water in Devín Lake. It is an exceptional natural habitat that is located in the floodplains between Morava River and Devínska Nová Ves in Bratislava. A large part of this unique area is still preserved because it used to be part of the strictly guarded border of the Iron Curtain. That is why the area was not used for industry or agriculture and the wetlands with its riparian forests have remained untouched. In the surrounding waters, fish have been observed that you will not find anywhere else in the world. The meadows of Morava River are an important resting place for tens of thousands of birds. You can find the Marchegg viaduct here, which is a 474 metrelong bridge between Devínska Nová Ves and Marchegg that used to be one of the biggest bridges in the Kingdom of Hungary.
